Our software pathway gives students the opportunity to further explore topics such as software development lifecycles – an integrated process that promotes building good quality, secure software throughout the entire development process.

 

Theoretical understanding will be translated into practical skills through live software development lifecycle projects, and students will become confident in the use of specialist tools and techniques relevant to a chosen methodology, as used in industry.

To ensure you are prepared for entering the industry, you will join BCS The Chartered Institute for IT as a student member and complete the following accreditations:

 

– Professional Registration for IT Technicians (RITTech)
– MTA Certification: Microsoft Technology Associate
– PCAP – Programming Essentials in Python

Course Duration: Available to study full time over one year or part time over two years

Entry Requirements: Students are expected to have achieved at least 32-48 UCAS points in computing, information technology or similar discipline – e.g. C grade at A-Level, MP grade at BTEC/OCR/UAL Level 3, Pass at Access – or relevant industry experience considered.

 

 

 

Good to know

The most in demand specialist digital skills are programming languages such as SQL, Microsoft C~, Hava, .NET, C++ and Python (SEMLEP 2019 – Analysis of Digital Skills in the South East Midlands).

Overview: Dominos is working with their partners to create a system for interfacing with different food providers. Students were asked to find ways to design the back-end ordering system.
